Sunshine is finally beginning to warm the days and the chill in the air is diminishing! I’m so excited that spring has arrived and that summer is not far behind! My plants are coming back to life, flowers are beginning to bloom and it simply seems that the air is lighter. I love this time of year! As I begin to clear the clutter that’s piled up around my house during the cold and rainy months of winter, I look for fresh ways to bring the outside in. I want to add color that provides a more serene and relaxed atmosphere, yet is bright and refreshing. When I reflect on the things that I love most about this season, it is the ability to thoroughly enjoy the outdoors. Whether it’s relaxing by the pool, moving dinner to the patio, or a walk at the lake, there seems to be a common theme….nature….water….fresh air. It is proven, that all of these components make us feel happier, healthier and refreshed.
Not only can you experience this feeling outdoors, you can also promote a positive and more optimistic outlook, by incorporating colors of nature into your home décor. Although, I love all colors, a fun new color to create with, is the color of the year 2010, blue. Blue was chosen as the color of the year because it best represents a general theme which correlates most to our world at this time….reclamation. The desire to reclaim the past, find financial security once again, improve our environment to protect the earth from global warming, and to restructure our values overall. Blue is a color which reflects tranquility, hopefulness and clarity! Perfect for the beginning of a new season!
Every color seems to set a mood and colors we choose tend to echo our lifestyle. I incorporate new accent colors into my home décor when I wish to nurture a particular frame of mind or when I simply need a change of atmosphere. Sometimes I need to add energy, sometimes comfort or maybe just a splash of color to brighten my surroundings. Most of all, I simply love to feel happy! I like to choose colors that bring me positive energy and enhance my mood to the fullest!
Life is too short to focus solely on the mundane routines and day to day responsibilities that we all face. By integrating fresh flowers and other natural elements into simple, yet fresh, accents into your home, you can instantly create that positive atmosphere to match the season.
